Claims made of HIV cure
An announcement has been made during the international medical conference in Yemenn by Abdul Majeed al-Zandani, claiming that he has found a cure for HIV and Aids.
Mr al-Zandani, chairman of Al-Iman University, stated on Friday that after 20 years of research he and his "miracle team" can produce a medicine to cure HIV infected people.
He claims that nine out of ten people he treated are free of the virus and that his samples were taken by the ministry of health and population and given to the World Health Organisation (WHO), according to the Yemen Times.
However, the WHO has denied receiving any official documentation regarding the claim from the Yemeni government or the Ministry of Health and Population.
Mr al-Zadani has accused the ministry of hindering his discovery. He told the news publication: "Though the tests have been proved by them, the ministry didnt react or even ask to adopt this medical discovery."
A recent report from the United Nations said that increasing numbers of HIV positive children and pregnant women are receiving treatment for the disease as a result of a joint venture by the WHO, Unicef and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and Aids.
