Women Deliver Conference Opens

HIghlights from the first day

2000 participants from 105 countries packed in to the Excel Conference Center, in London's Docklands, to hear pleas for the preventable deaths of 10 million women during pregnancy and childbirth each generation to be halted along with the needless deaths of newborns and infants worldwide. Delegates heard it would cost $5 to $6 billion to meet the Millenium Development goals on reproductive health but $15 billion in lost productivity if it's not done.
