Launch of the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM)
The inaugural meeting of the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, saw ministers, policy makers, donors and lab professionals pledge to raise the status and practice of laboratory medicine across the region. This new professional body will influence strategy, policy, encourage accreditation of laboratories and share best lab practice and training. A sharp improvement in laboratories will boost healthcare and save lives across the continent.
