Breast milk banks resuming operation, saving babies
South Africa establishes first breast milk bank since AIDS crisis hit
Breast milk banks were commonplace in South Africa before the emergence of HIV/AIDS in the 1980s. They were swiftly shut down amid fears of transmitting the infection. Global Health TV meets Anna Coutsoudis, who has worked to re-establish safe, reliable breast milk banks in the country. She tells us why breast milk can make all the difference to a sick baby.
