Drug policy and the public good: evidence for effective interventions
Prof John Strang, National Addiction Centre, King's College, London
Many drug control initiatives to date are based on insufficient evidence, according to a new paper, part of a new Lancet Series on Addiction. But evidence-based interventions are now emerging that can make drugs less available, reduce violence in drug markets, lessen misuse of legal, pharmaceutical drugs, prevent initiation of drug use in young people, and reduce drug use and its consequences in existing users. Lancet TV speaks to co-author Professor John Strang, National Addiction Centre, London and King’s College London, UK.
