Interview with Patrick Watt, Save the Children

Eight million children die each year from preventable childhood illnesses. As Save the Children launches a major campaign entitled No Child Born to Die, Global Health TV talks with the NGO's Director of Development Policy, Patrick Watt. Watt tells us that, as we already have the tools to prevent these deaths, it's the political will that is lacking. The campaign calls on the public to put pressure on their leaders to commit to spend more on childhood immunisation in the developing world. But with the global economy in tatters, isn't foreign aid low on donor countries' agendas? Does the campaign stand any chance of success, and will it save millions of children's lives?
