Global Health TV discovers how the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit (NPEU) at Oxford University conducts high-quality research aimed at improving the care provided to women and their families during pregnancy, childbirth, the newborn period and early childhood, as well as promoting the effective use of resources by perinatal health services. As a multi-disciplinary research unit the NPEU carries out research across a wide range of topics using methods appropriate to the question being addressed. Key to the success of the work being carried out is the focus on questions which are important to women, babies and their families and the involvement of a wide range of research collaborators, particularly those involved in directly providing care in the health service.
