About TDR:
http://apps.who.int/tdr/
TDR is the Special Program for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases at the World Health Organization. TDR is for research and scientific collaboration on diseases of poverty co-sponsored by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the World Bank and the World Health Organization (WHO). The program supports and advocates for research and development to address diseases associated with poverty, and works to build the capacity and leadership of researchers where these infectious diseases are widespread. Together with its global network of partners, TDR has helped to reduce leprosy to the brink of elimination, dramatically reduced the scourge of river blindness (onchocerciasis), and continues to work on dengue, visceral leishmaniasis, tuberculosis, malaria and a number of other neglected issues.
