The road to strong health systems
Local people agents for change in under-served Indian communities
Remote areas of India can lack the health personnel and infrastructure they need. This report shows how some communities in South-Eastern India are taking matters into their own hands.
With some healthcare facilities sitting empty due to lack of staff, community health visitors working on a voluntary basis with little training, stigma and confusion around HIV/AIDS, there are a lot of challenges facing rural communities in India. It can seem like there's no solution. Action Aid is working with local NGOs and India around the world to change the situation. We meet some inspiring people that are taking control of healthcare in their areas and working for a better future.
